The mountain is named in honor of American explorer Zebulon Pike and is higher than any point in the United States east of its longitude. Manitou Springs lies at its base. Elevation 14,110 feet.

This fourteener is located in the Mount Evans Wilderness of Pike National Forest, 9.4 miles east of Georgetown. Elevation 14,060 feet.

Quandary Peak is the highest summit of the Tenmile Range in the rockies and is the most commonly climbed fourteener in Colorado. It has nearly the same elevation as Castle Peak and Mount Blue Sky. Elevation 14,265 feet.

Pyramid Peak is the 47th highest mountain peak in Colorado, and 78th highest peak in the United States. It is located in the Elk Mountains in southeastern Pitkin County. The summit resembles a ragged square pyramid. Elevation 14,018.

Mount Princeton is part of the Collegiate Peaks located in San Isabel National Forest near Buena vista. The mountain was named in honor of Princeton University. Elevation 14,197 feet.

Tabeguache, "tab-uh-wash," lies just east of the Continental Divide and just west of the Arkansas River, in the south-central part of the Sawatch Range. It is located within the San Isabel National Forest and is in Chaffee County. Elevation 14,155 feet.

Mount Shavano is famous for the Angel of Shavano, a snow formation in the image of an angel that emerges on the east face of the mountain during snow melt each spring. Elevation 14,229 feet.

"La Plata" is Spanish for "The Silver", a reference to the many silver deposits in the area. Elevation 14,336 feet.

Capitol Peak lies on the long ridge connecting the heart of the Elk Mountains with Mount Sopris to the northwest. Elevation 14,130 feet.

Uncompahgre Peak is the sixth highest summit of the Rocky Mountains. The prominent 14,321 foot fourteener is the highest summit of the San Juan Mountains and the highest point in the drainage basin of the Colorado River and the Gulf of California.

The first European to ascend Torreys Peak, botanist Charles C. Parry, named the peak for his botanist colleague John Torrey. Torrey's is frequently mentioned in conjunction with Grays Peak.
