The first European to ascend Torreys Peak, botanist Charles C. Parry, named the peak for his botanist colleague John Torrey. Torrey's is frequently mentioned in conjunction with Grays Peak.

Mount Sneffels was named after an Icelandic mountain in Jules Verne's book, Journey to the Center of the Earth. Elevation 14,150 feet.

Above the South Colony Lakes are the big walls of the Crestone Needle and the wild gendarmes of the ridge to Crestone Peak. Crestone is Spanish for 'cockscomb.' Elevation 14,197 feet.

Snowmass Mountain is named for the large snowfield that lies on its eastern slopes. It lies along the border between Pitkin and Gunnison counties, west of Aspen and southwest of the town of Snowmass Village. Elevation 14,092 feet.

The mountain is named in honor of American explorer Zebulon Pike and is higher than any point in the United States east of its longitude. Manitou Springs lies at its base. Elevation 14,110 feet.

Mount Yale is part of the Collegiate Peaks in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. Elevation 14,196 feet.

Mount Princeton is part of the Collegiate Peaks located in San Isabel National Forest near Buena vista. The mountain was named in honor of Princeton University. Elevation 14,197 feet.

Mount Massive is located near Leadville in the Sawatch Range. Its name comes from its elongated shape: it has five summits, all above 14,000 ft. Elevation 14,421 feet.

Mount Evans is now officially Mount Blue Sky after controversy came from its naming after former governor's involvement in the 1864 Sand Creek Massacre. Elevation 14,264 feet.

Mount Democrat is located 5.4 miles northwest of the Town of Alma. It was once known as Republic Mountain and Mount Buckskin. Elevation 14,148 feet.
