Above the South Colony Lakes are the big walls of the Crestone Needle and the wild gendarmes of the ridge to Crestone Peak. Crestone is Spanish for 'cockscomb.' Elevation 14,197 feet.

The first European to ascend Torreys Peak, botanist Charles C. Parry, named the peak for his botanist colleague John Torrey. Torrey's is frequently mentioned in conjunction with Grays Peak.

The Colorado Trail is a long-distance trail running for 486 miles (782 km) from the mouth of Waterton Canyon southwest of Denver to Durango.

Pyramid Peak is the 47th highest mountain peak in Colorado, and 78th highest peak in the United States. It is located in the Elk Mountains in southeastern Pitkin County. The summit resembles a ragged square pyramid. Elevation 14,018.

Mount Antero is prized for its gemstone deposits and has one of the highest concentrations of aquamarine in the country. Elevation 14,269 feet.
