Above the South Colony Lakes are the big walls of the Crestone Needle and the wild gendarmes of the ridge to Crestone Peak. Crestone is Spanish for 'cockscomb.' Elevation 14,197 feet.

Mount Sneffels was named after an Icelandic mountain in Jules Verne's book, Journey to the Center of the Earth. Elevation 14,150 feet.

Snowmass Mountain is named for the large snowfield that lies on its eastern slopes. It lies along the border between Pitkin and Gunnison counties, west of Aspen and southwest of the town of Snowmass Village. Elevation 14,092 feet.

Quandary Peak is the highest summit of the Tenmile Range in the rockies and is the most commonly climbed fourteener in Colorado. It has nearly the same elevation as Castle Peak and Mount Blue Sky. Elevation 14,265 feet.

Mount Democrat is located 5.4 miles northwest of the Town of Alma. It was once known as Republic Mountain and Mount Buckskin. Elevation 14,148 feet.

The Maroon Bells are two peaks in the Elk Mountains, Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak, separated by about half a kilometer. Elevation 14,156 feet.

Mount Belford is a high mountain summit of the Collegiate Peaks in the Sawatch Range. Elevation 14,197 feet.

Longs Peak towers above all other summits in Rocky Mountain National Park. The flat-topped monarch is seen from almost anywhere. Elevation 14,255 feet.

Mount of the Holy Cross is located 6.6 miles west-southwest of the Town of Red Cliff in Eagle County. It was named for the distinctive cross-shaped snowfield on its northeast face. Elevation 14,005 feet.

Mount Sherman is one of the most nondescript of the fourteeners, and one of the easiest to climb; it is recommended as a beginner fourteener. Elevation 14,036 feet.

Mount Harvard is included in the Collegiate Peaks mountain range located near Buena Vista. It the second highest point in the contiguous United States. Elevation 14,420 feet.
